Well, if it's outdoor activities that you're looking for, you've come to the right place. Vancouver has everything you can imagine in a temperate climate. I don't know what your favourites are like, but there's plenty of hiking on the North Shore mountains (Eagle's Bluff my fav) and there's winter skiing and snowboarding at your doorstep. In the summer, you can go to the beaches, or to nearby lakes. No matter which municipality you choose, there are well-kept, nice lakes and beaches everywhere. In Port Moody for instance we have Sasamat Lake and Buntzen Lake, both beautiful, albeit pretty busy during the summer. There are well-developed trail systems, both paved and unpaved, so you can go biking, inline-skating or just for a stroll around town. Too many things to mention, really. If you like outdoors, Vancouver will quickly become your favourite place to live. And don't worry about the winter rain. Just remember this word: GoreTex. Solves all your winter problems, and you can still go out. We never have -25C weather here.
Good luck
