How to get divorced, PR status

My wife and I came from SA 3 years ago to Vancouver.

We're currently separated and mutually decided to get divorced. Nothing to do with immigration, rather realizing that we are not happy together and need to move on after 7 years of marriage.

I have a few questions:
1. We are not citizens yet, only PR residents. Do we need to get divorced in SA and Canada ?
2. Only I have an income, my wife study part time (after hours), but did not find a new job yet (career change). Where can we ask for legal assistance that will not cost much (financial assistance ?
3. How long does the process take ?

Any advice will help thanks
