Marine Engineers/Mining is Canada an option

My husband and I are looking at emigrating to Canada. He is a Marine Engineer and I am now a housewife. We have 2 girls and plenty of animals. It seems a huge step as we cannot plan to visit in advance due to nature of work. Any advice or assistance would be great. Would love to live in a small town in the country - as we love animals. Also schools are important as our girls are both badly dyslexic.
