Hi Jeff!
TeleFreakSteve here! I have been a Joe B. convert since I first saw him at BB's 80th Birthday Bash with KWS. WOW! What a group! But I had never seen you until you opened for Gretchen Wilson with the Rogue Suspects. I IMMEDIATELY sat up and took notice. Imagine my surprise when out on stage you popped last friday at the Joe B. concert. I knew something cool was up....
None of us really knew what to expect when Crosby walked out on stage, but I have to say, that set became one of my treasured memories of the summer. You two share a special rapport which came across as well as any I have ever heard, and I've been around bigtime, bro.
As for Joe, I am part of his Street Team, something he apparently needs less and less each day his reputation preceeds him. We all know the true musical genius he embodies and like I stated awhile back in his forum, I only hope he stays the way he truly is,i.e., down-to-earth, only the occaisional stadium gig(he could fill them any old day), and true to his wonderful eclecticism.
He defies being categorized despite the fact that he is continually thrust into the blues genre, a good thing in my book. If people listened carefully, he shouted (quietly, at that) the word, FREEDOM, after one of his incredibly free numbers, and I only find myself trying to emulate his lack of adhering to ruts.
My personal soapbox is this same trip about not getting stuck in ruts, and as a guitar player myself, I know the wisdom in this mindset. Obviously, you have similar thoughts about this, I'm quite sure, because jazz is, to me, the freest of the free....
Love and Peace from Selma,
Steve and Janet Chatham
