Posted by someone once trusted on 5/16/2007, 7:32 am Good to know that you are busy with recording projects. Can you give us more information? When are the targets for release? Will it be under a Indie label? Solo project or in support of others? Was also curious to know if you ever considered doing something on Broadjam? Broadjam, or anything like it (there are probably more websites like this out there), is a kewl little place to release music out. CDs and old distributions are falling by the wayside with the iPod and MP3 players. It's got pros and cons naturally. Some pros, gets your music out there quickly, you control your releases single by single, gets your music to your fans quicker (cause you can post singles as they are finished versus finishing a whole cd), allows the fan to compile their own cds, ipod or mp3 compilations of your work and cuts out the big time music industry suits (to some extent). The fan pays for the music to download single by single. It's the new up and coming thing--so I've been told. I've also been told it cuts down on production costs and overhead so the costs isn't outrageous to download for the fan. I don't know the costs to the artist--but it's probably on their website information. Just some information from one whose ideas you once listened to and discussed them with. All the best in your endeavors.

Cons is that the artist needs to do their own marketing, but between the myspace page, message boards and various other contacts an artist has these days, that isn't too much of a con. I'm sure there are more and you being the artist/musician would see those more quickly than I. It also gives the artist more artistic freedom, in my opinion.
