Posted by Steve Levine I wanted to let those up here in the Boston area know about a special event taking place on March 11th. As some of you may know, Jamie and I have been taking in abused and neglected children through our local DSS office. Currently, there are over 10,000 children in Massachusetts alone in Foster care, and only half that many foster homes able to take them in. Thie first goal of our show is to raise public awareness to the huge need for Foster parents, and do demonstrate that if she and I can do it, anyone can. Just as importantly, when children are removed from a home due to abuse, siblings are almost always split up. That's not anyones desire, but it's the reality, in that most foster parents will only take one child at a time. Clearly this is a double tragedy. Imagine your kids being first ripped away from you, and then never seeing their siblings again! A national non-profit camp program exists, with a branch on Cape Cod called Camp To Belong ( www.camptobelong.org) Their sole function is to bring in siblings who reside in multiple foster homes so that they can spend the summer in camp together rekindling those bonds that they will need for the rest of their lives. So...making a long story short, Jamie and are are actually producing a concert! Our concert will be donating 100% of the profits to this Camp Program to enable hundreds of kids to attend summer camp with their brothers and sisters. We have booked a fabulous artist for the event, named Maia Sharp. (www.maiasharp.com ), to come out and perform. If you've never seen Maia, you're missing something special. She has worked with everyone from Carole King, Cher, Art Garfunkel, Trisha Yearwood, and Bonnie Raitt. Her song "Home" was the title track for the Grammy Award winning Dixie Chicks album. Her work on guitar, piano, and sax is not to be belived. Better still, we had a chance to meet her when she opened for Bonnie in Boston, and she's the sweetest gal you'll find. When we told her about this wonderful cause, she was on board in minutes. We have also booked Millie Manning, a 17 year old singer/songwriter who's been receiving rave reviews, and may have 2 other special guests as well. The show will be held in the Pincus Amphitheater, in Shrewsbury Mass. We only have 250 seats, so I wanted to offer them to our friends here first, before they go on sale. Tix are $30, and if you want them, please just drop me an e-mail at steve@stevelevine.com Sorry for taking up so much room. Thanks again to all. Regards Steve Link: Maia Sharp's Website

Hey all. Hope everyone is doing well.
(PS. Our dream is to get J.T. to come out and be a guest singer at the event, since he's lives in Mass., AND sang with the Dixie Chicks on the tour for the album "HOME" that Maia helped write. Does anyone know a way to get a msg to his people? He seems like a really nice guy, and I'll bet he'd do the show it if he knew about this amazing cause.)
