Nomads continued their encouraging start to the season with a share of the points at Binfield.
Binfield only conceded 18 goals in finishing champions of Division One East last season and, having won 1-0 away at Highworth in their first Premier match, were perhaps a little surprised when Nomads charged into them from the kick-off and went a goal up inside two minutes. Jermaine Ferreira was the scorer from close range after excellent work by John Rixon and Mark Janes.
Nomads had chances to go further ahead but were caught out after a quarter of an hour when Whitty equalised.
Nomads continued to play fluent attacking football and Denel Thomas restored the lead in the 26th minute. Binfield responded once again and Millward scored their second nine minutes later.
Within 60 seconds Nomads were in front once again as Ben Moses, excellent throughout, outpaced the defence to slot home.
Both sides continued to go forward whenever possible but it was not until the 76th minute that Binfield equalised yet again, Wing the scorer this time.
For the second game in a row injury time produced two goals. Thomas capped an impressive performance when he converted a Rixon cross for what seemed sure to be the winner, but substitute Williams fired home almost straight from the kick-off with virtually the last kick of the game.
Anyone looking at the score would think that this was a game of defensive errors; however, this is not the case. Both teams were committed to attacking, entertaining football in the pleasantly rural setting of Binfield's ground - it's certainly the first time I've seen a horse and rider galloping along yards from the touchline five minutes before kick-off. Congratulations to both teams for an excellent game and thanks to all at Binfield for making everyone feel so welcome.
