As everyone must be working...I thought I`d respond to myself then!
It wasn`t our best performance v OCC although the Gaffer`s Benitez squad rotation helped by resting a few 1st choice players & giving us 2nd choice players a chance to shine before the final / season ends.
Creedy gave us a typical pre-match team talk by saying `right lads, there`s a few missing tonight so Smiler in goal, Liam right-back, Mark Jennings centre-half, Snitch up-front` etc... that sort of confidence building stuff that dreams are made of!!!
To be fair to Creedy, good rotation as we only had 1 sub in himself & Tommo`s brother to call-on from the bar if needed?!
OCC proved stronger and fitter as the game progressed as they had about 10 subs that all got on.
Included on their bench were the Town Crier, Lord Mayor & Wolvercote`s bin-men!!!
Those Council boys showed a great work-ethic that has never been matched by any Council employees in over 30 years!
Well done to them.
I have to say what a fantastic 1st goal strike from their Council Tax inspector in midfield.
Smiler in our goal never had a chance - not even if he was 5ft 7"!
Signing off now for Dan Roan`s interview (Geoff away on holiday in Rio) & it`s nice to see a regular Vets feature in the 1st team`s programme - fame at last for Holdy`s writing talents!
See you soon,
Big Liam.
