Posted by Bradders on September 21, 2007, 7:48 am, in reply to "Re: Saturday v Windsor & Eton" The replay was played in front of around 2000+ fans and in a tight game we came up short losing 1-0. Please feel free to point out my predictable inaccuricies. It was great to play for City again this week and last week at Ardley for the Vets. It is nearly 20 years since I last wore the hoops and its just as good second time round. Creedy never top of the scoring charts took his chance well and 30 years of pent up emotion came flooding out!
Windsor and Eton, then in the Isthmian Premier League were drawn to play us in the last qualifying round of the FA cup in the mid eighties.
The first game took place at Windsor with us leading 2-0 and looking comfortable until an uncharacteristic mistake by Teesdale in goal let them back in and they went on to grab a late equaliser to force a replay at the Whitehouse.
Our chance to play league oppostion, Torquay in the FA cup 1st round propper had gone.
Apart from the huge crowd (our average was nearer 350 at the time) my everlasting memory was the way all of us players avoided the advancing radio Oxford reporter as we strolled out for our warm up. I think he collared Jasper but the rest of us were a bit quicker!
Thanks City for giving us all an opprtunity to continue our football dreams.
I musn't leave without mentioning that 'goal'

: They looked a very different side on Saturday
: to the one we (Didcot) beat 3-0 just 3 weeks
: earlier.
: I still rate City as favourites for the
: game, I think you have a cracking squad this
: year, but Windsor aren't to be
: underestimated and I'm sure Fordy and Justin
: Merritt will have your players focussed.
: Roche as has been mentioned is a handful,
: along with his big bustling partner Matt
: Seedel. At the back centre-back Steve Butler
: looked far happier last Saturday.
:
: One last thing, they may have started slowly
: but the have very good financial backing and
: I'd tip them to be top 8 this season.

: It could be quite a tricky game as Windsor
: have a very good away record so far but a
: terrible home record. We will need to be at
: our best.

: Their main threat will be Jermaine Roche (ex
: marlow) , but despite beating Didcot teams
: that have played them so far don't report
: much danger from them, if we play the way we
: did last saturday we are capable of beating
: any team in this league.

: Any predictions for Saturday?
:
: They beat Didcot 1-0 to knock them out of
: the FA Cup! But have also lost 3 games
: already in the league.
:
: Be good to continue without a loss for a
: while longer!
