This of course will only work if you produce a half-decent programme otherwise people start to moan - luckily we've had no real complaints so far. As we charge £5 for adults we only add effectively add around 50p to cover this but at least it means all my efforts in producing the programme don't go to waste as everyone reads it. The downside is that you have to produce a lot more programmes than if they were sold separately. --Previous Message--
We do things a bit differently at Witney as we include the cost of the programme in the entrance fee, thus in effect 'forcing' every adult and OAP to but one.
: I cant speak for City but here at Abingdon
: United the programmes relate very closely to
: 1 programme for each 3 people that watch the
: game.
:
: That is not the paying public but all
: watching including officials etc that get
: given free programmes.
:
: So for the people who pay to get in and have
: to buy a programme it would be on average
: about one peron in four.
:
: I dont think City or anywhere else would be
: much different.

: I think it would be great to do a special FA
: Cup programme (15th Sept). I have collected
: some facts together about the FA cup any
: other contributions I am sure would be
: grateful received by our very much over
: worked programme editor.

: Some good ideas there. I am sure the
: programme
: editor would appreciate any contributions as
: to the content of the programme.

: I am not critising the programme editor, as
: I
: understand it to be thankless and time
: consuming task. The reason I do not buy a
: programme on a regular basis is because the
: team sheet is more often incorrect and the
: majority of the remainder is adverts which
: are obviously pre-printed. In saying this,
: most clubs programmes are the same.
: Additional items could be a club directory,
: items on the clubs history (job for Padz and
: ChrisB) other Southern league news,Managers
: news and even new of other local teams
: including Oxford United.
: I am not suggesting these ideas are adopted
: by any means but just giving my views of why
: I do not buy a program on a regular basis.
: Well done to the current editor for giving
: his time to the existing program.

: I've often wondered what proportion, on
: average, of the 'gate' actually buys a
: programme. Any ideas?

: Yes you must buy a programme at the Gosport
: game on Saturday. Why ? because there is an
: article the first in a series entitled Our
: visitors home town by a "young" up
: and coming journalist. Some say he should go
: far (as far as possible others say)
