Ray, you asked if there is an example of where the Nicene creed contradicts the "Protestant" Bible. If you mean the KJV, which I currently use, then yes, there is. No where in the Word does God say we should say, "And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church." No. The Word does not say we should believe in "the church". It says, we should believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 14 is written specifically to His disciples. He is telling them of His impending death and assuring them that He will not leave them destitute. John 14:16,17, "And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, Even the Spirit of truth; Whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
Yes, Paul and Barnabas were at the conference. As I said, they were chosen by God. Speaking of Saul [Paul] and Barnabas:
Acts 13:2-4
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate Me Barnabas and Saul [Paul] for the work whereunto I have called them...So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed...
James, Peter, Barnabas, Paul, the other disciples, and prophets were CHOSEN by the Lord. His word was in their mouths. This cannot be said about any random council of men working out divisions and putting together a creed. There is no reason for a "creed". As I stated before, we are never told to put our faith in the doctrine or council of men.
