Searcher,

If you think the 1st Ecumenical council of Nicea in 325 AD was a mere council of men, without the working of the Holy Spirit, do you similarly think the church meeting described in Acts 15:6 was a mere meeting of Christian men to discuss questions that were causing confusion, division, and possible heresy, without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? If such a meeting was appropriate in Acts 15 to produce wisdom from God, why can't such a meeting occur in the post apostolic times, as long as the Holy Spirit's wisdom has universal application for all of Christendom?
This short web page probes into the question that needed clarification in 325 AD:
Brief Summary of the First Ecumenical Council
Have you found a part of the Bible that clearly shows that there was no time in which the Son of God was not? You have equated the wisdom of Proverbs 8 with Christ, and in verse 22, you may be straying too much into Arian territory, for it says the following (NKJV):
22 “ The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old.
In the linked web page, it says:
"Arius’ argument was very logical until he stated, 'If the Father begat the Son, then he who was begotten had a beginning in existence, and from this it follows there was a time when the Son was not.'"
If this wisdom came into being at a certain beginning time, before other things were created, does this imply that there was formerly an existence of God without the coming into being of this wisdom? Also, how do you know the Son of God came (or did not come) after this wisdom, and the Son is merely some kind of reflection or representation of this wisdom? I am not saying that you you are wrong about the procession of the Son of God from the Father of God, but I am pointing out how even when people read your quotations of scripture, they can interpret them to hold to their belief that there was a time when the Son of God did not exist.
