Dear Ray,
The second coming of Christ and the setting up of the kingdom on earth are contingent on Israel's repentance. We know full well that they did not repent and are now lo-ammi. (Not His people). (Acts 3:19-26; Acts 28:25-27).
Matt 21:43
"Therefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof."
The "new nation" spoken of here is the NEW ISRAEL, as prophesied in Isaiah 66:7-14. The Jews crucified their Messiah and therefore rejected the kingdom hope. When they were given a second chance during the ministry of the apostles during Acts, once again, they did not repent. Therefore the commission in Matt 28:19,20 is now postponed. Neither it nor the kingdom prayer are part of today's hope and calling.
The commission given to the 11 disciples was the proclamation of Christ as King of Israel, according to the parable in Luke 19:12. Christ left Jerusalem until He returns in power to set up His kingdom.(Matt 26:64) It is the summons to the Gentiles nations to submit to the Lord Jesus, as King of Israel, according to the prophecy in Psalms 2:8-12.(quoted below)
The "end of the age" (that age) is when the commission given to apostles WOULD have ended, but all is now postponed until Matthew 24:14 is taken up and fulfilled.
Matthew 24:14
And the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and THEN shall the end come.
----------------------------------
Psalms 2:8-12
8 Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen [Gentiles] for Thine inheritance. And the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: Be instructed ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way. When His wrath is kindled bu a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.
If you want a prayer to pray for today, why are you repeating a prayer for a hope that is not your hope? Why are you not praying the prayer found in Ephesians 1:17-23? Why are you setting your affection on things on the earth when our hope and our resurrection has nothing to do with things on this earth?
Col 3:1,2
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are ABOVE, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things ABOVE, NOT on things on the EARTH.
