Dear Don,
Thank you for asking.
The one greatest mystery for believers today is "the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance of His saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church, Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all. (Eph 1:18-23)
"Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages
and from generations, BUT NOW is made manifest to His saints: To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labor, striving according to His working, which worketh in me mightily." (Col 1:26-29)
The one hope of our calling was revealed for the first time to Paul. The mystery is that God had a plan for us which He kept hid in Himself until He revealed it to Paul. It involves a high calling, being chosen before the foundation of the world, and the hope of being raised and seated with Him in the highest of heavens. No one was ever promised a hope in this sphere until Israel was set aside. Salvation and hope WAS of the Jews. Now salvation is SENT to the Gentiles and the hope of His calling today has nothing to do with any promises having to do with the earth.
