Dear Ray,
Israel was the only nation ever chosen above all the nations that are upon the earth. (Deut 14:4) God made a covenant with Moses and with Israel. He wrote the tables of the covenant, the ten commandments, to them (Ex 34:27,28).God made an unconditional covenant with Abraham saying, "Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates" (Gen 15:18)Israel was called "My Son, My firstborn" in Exodus 4:22. The nation of Israel was called, "My People" (Deut 29),"My wife" (Jer 3:14), "My glory" (Isaiah 46:13) and Israel was "under law" (Exodus 20-23).
Israel was "NOT reckoned among the nations" (Num 23:9). The twelve tribes were made up of the 12 sons of Jacob and each tribe followed that bloodline. Since Israel did not fulfill it's purpose, it is now just a nation like any other. It is no longer set apart or put first. Today, believers are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. We are not grafted in to Israel's blessings.
The gifts of the spirit were part of prophecy found in Joel for Israel. There are no gifts on offer today, but gifts WILL be resumed when Israel's clock once again resumes in the end times. The promise in Gal 3:8,9 started to be fulfilled during Acts, but Israel and all the blessings associated with her have been set aside. The time when the promise made to Abraham will be fulfilled is during the millennial kingdom.
Future prophecy in Isaiah (Acts 1:6,7):
Isaiah 59:20.21;60:3,11,12,14
20,21 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. As for Me, this is My covenant with them, saith the Lord; My Spirit that is upon thee, and My words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and forever.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
11,12 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. For the nation and kingdom that will NOT serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee: and all they that despise thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy one of Israel.
