Dear Ray,
You have asked about so many different topics that I will have to answer in increments as I find time. First, thee are many types and figures in the Word.
Since you mentioned Adam and then Cain and Able, I will discuss them.
Adam was a type of Christ because, first of all, he was a son of God. Also, Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil knowing that he would die. He himself was not beguiled by the serpent (Satan). Adam gave himself up to death so that God's plan of redemption and salvation could proceed.
Cain and Abel were types of a faithful person in comparison to a religious person. Abel's sacrifice was the first example of religion. He chose the way of natural religion rather than the way God had appointed.
Adam:
1Cor 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all men be made alive.
1Cor 15:45-47
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [Christ] was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man [Adam] is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
1Tim 2:13
For Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Cain and Abel
Abel
Heb 11:4
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Cain
1John 3:11,12
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one [Satan], and slew his brother. And wherefore he slew him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Jude
Woe unto them! for they have gone the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam (Nu 22,23) for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core [Korah](Nu 16).
