Dear Ray,
Dispensation is just a word that refers to a specific stewardship or administration. It is used four times in the NT. The "history" of the mystery given to Paul is now over 1900 years old. I know nothing of some tongue-speaking Scottish girl or Darby. I have heard of Schofield, but I don't depend on writings of theologians for knowledge of the Word.
Proverbs 2:6
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Knowledge comes by revelation from the Holy Spirit when we pray for understanding and seek to know the Lord. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Admittedly, I am wary of the traditions of men. We are warned against putting our faith in the traditions and doctrines and commandments of men. I take that warning seriously.
Col 2:6
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ, For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, Who hath raised Him from the dead.
Eph 4:14
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
The church today is an invisible church with Christ as the Head. We are to worship in spirit and in truth. We as members of the church which is His body are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit. (Eph 2:22)
