Ray, even Jesus had to deal with people who saw Him as some kind of superhero rockstar. We need to see Him as the Son of God, Our Redeemer, God in the Flesh, to be followed not because of superficial image but because He is worthy of dieing for.
Yes, people will always want full bellies and have their ears tickled but those are the $20 sermons. Jesus has given us a $million sermon to preach - don't short-change anyone.
