I agree with your post, but when people start reading the Bible, isn't it important that they start with plain reading, even though they have to mentally gloss over what is not easy to understand?
Until my daughter has read at least one gospel, it is hard to explain to her the meaning of your post; with connectedness between gospel verses and OT prophecies, and how the people that were associated with Jesus were knowledgable about the OT.
Another good way to start is for people to watch (say) the Jesus film, just before reading the gospels. At this point, I hope my daughter doesn't get turned off, but if I give her some kind of snow job, she might think the Christian religion is the equivalent of getting a PhD. It will seem too hard for her, and she might just give up.
