I prefer the Revised Standard Version. KJV can be a little hard to understand. Of course the Gospels are good, but they are pretty far along in the story. The story begins in Genesis and Deuteronomy. Isiah sets the groundwork for the gospels.
I would recommend starting with Matthew to get a feel for the outcome, and then Gen. and Deut. followed by Isiah, then do a parallel study of the 4 Gospels. After that one might be ready for Paul.
I guess I've outlined a several year project here. Revelation is confusing, she should stay away, but kids love it. Just when I think I'm getting a handle on Revelation I realize I don't understand it at all.
