+Wright can often force one into unplanned places. I spent 2 years reading and re-reading the Christian Origins books and I am starting over.
Romans is confusing in part because we lack the context the first / second century Roman reader had without any effort. And we have the Calvinists shouting what the (extremely optimistically and incorrectly) call the 'plain meaning.' So we have a lot of noise in the background.
