I agree that there are too many income tax deductions, and that it has become too complicated. One of the mistakes in people's view of income taxes is that the goverment is reducing income taxes by having deductions. In reality, tax deductions reduce somne taxes, but the government then has to raise other taxes. Too many voters see only part of the tax equation such that the politicians keep on falsely enticing voters with special deductions that make it too complicated.
