Don,
I am voting against Barack Obama mainly because of his views on abortion.
I agree with much of what Andrew Talliman wrote, but I still favor some degree of graduation in the income taxes. I think an extreme form of taking Andrew Talliman's views seriously would to have a flat tax that is proportional the the number of persons in each household. For example, a single person would pay $10,000 per year, even if he earns $200,000 that same year, while a married couple with three children would pay $50,000 per year even if it is a working father with a $67,000 salary and a stay-at-home housewife.
One thing about capitalism is a tendency for some people to earn money easily while others have a struggle to earn less money. Professional baseball players bring in a lot of ticket and television rights revenue, such as to earn (say) $4,000,000 a year. Others who work similar hours at (say) an auto repair place earn (say) only $40,000 that same year. The baseball player earns money at 100 times the rate such that it is much easier for him to pay higher taxes. I think that even the rich are not against paying higher taxes because they can foresee the societal problems if the poor had to really struggle with their taxes.
I hope John McCain understands this philosophy that you claim Barack Obama does not understand. I am voting for McCain.
