e.g.
wax from candles should be dropped into running water,in my opinion. Do not re-use old spell candles for new spells. (Use small candles...)
roots such as snakeroot or High-John would best be buried - somewhere they are unlikely to be dug up accidentally before they rot and disappear.
powders and oils can also be buried however usually they are made in such quantities that you may be tempted to retain them. This is ok if you dispose of that part actually used in your Working.
crystals may be left out in direct sun for a few days, or bathed in sea water to refresh them (and this should be done with any bought jewelery)
if you have taken a stone from somewhere for a working (e.g. a flat sea stone with a hole in it) try and return the stone to where you got it.
(you'll have to make a not of it, of course)
mojo bags made specifically for one working can be opened and the materials dealt with as mentioned.
If you have enspelled live seeds for the growth of something (such as a good relationship) [I recommend something edible and easy to grow like basil] plant them, allow them to grow fully (or until the full moon or Lughnasadh), harvest them and make something (like spaghetti sauce) using them and share them with your intended at dinner.
In most cases, to reduce the magical connection these items retain, perform your disposal during a waning moon, preferably on the magical day associated. e.g. love workings on Friday, legal or land associated workings on a Saturday, etc.
purchased 'made goods' such as one of Lady Mimi's Twisters - well, just ask her! :-)
