That's a theomancy question, but it's pretty universal, so I'll try to say something without offending a deity or two. When I feel like I have lost the love of my life, I ask the god(dess) who sent the person for a replacement. S(H)e then reminds me that there is a time for exploring differences and there is a time for ignoring differences. So often, when someone has a knack for distinguishing the two, it is poisoned by a "third voice". You know, that locker room buddy or coffee clatch sis who is completely yet undetectably incensed that you found Love, or that Love found you.
Whatever goes on between you and a Source-Sent True Lover has to remain confidential, at least in specifics. When you consult "friends" about lovers instead of studying, praying, scrying, and meditating to solve the problem, the ego comes into play, and there is no greater enemy of love than ego, as it is subtle, cunning, and always comes back from a new angle.
Honestly, if Love is not available and one has to press on with some kind of life mission, one had best ask for a second helping, with the promise to keep the next platter out of the reach of the dog who ate the last one.
