Years ago, OTO and voodoo priestess Sallie Glassman (New Orleans Voodoo Tarot) was talking to a few Crowley fans at her home about scrying, and I thought it remarkable that she said that a crystal ball could be used as a point of contact with the spirit world even if one never saw images in the object itself. She said that she would hold hers, close her eyes, and the images would come, mentally. If you have a particularly active power object that helps your scrying, dreams are one of the most important avenues for impressions to flow. Thus, many mages keep a dream diary next to the bed, and it is often the first thing they reach for upon waking. Not being very psychic, myself, I often have to wait some time between posing a question and receiving an answer. Evidently, a scrying tool can help to protect your mind from shifting gears too quickly from plane to plane of perception, vibration, or existence. And, if your subtle bodies know that they are protected, they are often more likely to be courageous about investigating new areas.
