Re: opening the third eye
Indian mages have an elaborate nomenclature and methodology for raising awareness that can culminate in lucid clairvoyance. Just look at _Thought Forms_ by Manly Hall. But, unless ones environment is reasonably free of unclean entities, what one might see with ones good astral vision might be a bit disquieting. Thus, as contacted mages and mystics are on a sort of need-to-know basis, we often see only so much of the omniverse as our guardians deem us prepared. The same Indian gurus often preach against seeking siddhis for their own sake, because there are beings who use maya as bait, and the more keen the intellect, the more tragic they like to make the irony down a spiritually darkened path. One good way of getting the most out of your mystic powers is to read some book on magick every day, even if it is only a few pages. And of course, approaching your own Holy Guardian Angel in prayer and meditation to see his/her advice will be rewarded with intelligent responses not only from the HGA, but corroborated by your experience. At this writing, there is a banner ad for Dr. Wayne Dyer's CD on manifesting your desires. You might want to give it a listen. It is not very long, but is does help show that the division between mysticism and magick is not very intelligent. They are complementary if one has a sane, honest approach. Each can be training for the other, like the katas of martial arts and actual contests in an arena.
