2 RB's?? Only a few teams use 1 at all. I would select 1 of the two, which would be Webb Rush #15.
I agree with Rough Rider regarding QB and TE situation. Dan shouldn't get a TE spot, b/c he hasn't played it all yr. If it were last year this would be correct. His TE skills are irrelevant in regards to all-star selection.
Farber's been out most of the season. It depends on what we're talking here. I would go with Allison (RocBoys) as my #1 choice, and actually Dan (AO) or capt. Jack NJE #18 as my #2 choice at QB.
Now you've eliminated 2 positions on your list, which I would put in more WR's due to the fact that we are receiver heavy in this league. You can make a case for some 2 way players like Eric Z NJE#31 to get a receiver spot as well, and not for nothing, but Webb Rush #15 probably could be an all-star at DB the way he's been playing.
If we're selecting an all-star team for all-star purposes...
Then I would without a doubt say Allison or Farber at QB, with Dan at TE. And apply the majority of your list from there.
When you think of all-stars or all tournament teams, you must consider:
1. Who are the guys you game plan for?
2. Who are the guys that make you do something different with your offensive or defensive schemes?
3. Who do you worry will hurt you the most?
4. Who's that guy that you say "If we contain him, they're no good?"
5. Who's that DB that you try to put your weakest receiver on so you're not even thinking about throwing there? You throw away from him.
6. Who's that receiver that you make your best guy lock up 1 on 1.
7. What lineman do you double team?
I think you all get my point. I think waht Dan is trying to do for Thanksgiving is a big step foward for the league and the players, who only play in Dyckman. If you're available you should try to get involved in this tournament. Tournaments are totally different than league play. You play 4-5 games in 2 days. That's damn near half a regular season in a weekend.
I'm down to do it if you boys are down. If not, lets get an all-star game going with a playmaker squad and a rough rider squad. Or take the top 4 team captains..pair the #1 team with the #4 team captain, and the #2 team with the #3 team captain, or 1 with 3, and 2 with 4. It doesnt matter. Pair them together, and let them draft a squad as best they can. It would be interesting what guys would land on what squads. Lets play that game!
