There is so much being made of this Rush v Ao game and I believe there are many key factors you should consider before you call a forfeit win for Rush:
1. Is there a consistent account of what happened here? Are the refs account consistent? Are witness accounts consistent? If there is not or the threat can't be verified you cannot call the game.
2. This game has huge significance from slots #1-7. If you just award a team 18-0 for a forfeit when, you have to have good reason. This will effect many teams seedings for the playoffs.
3. There is an easy remedy to the situation if you don't find a forfeit is not warranted. Let them play out the 2nd half. You have a second field to use. Use it.
4. The game was 0-0, so neither team had an advantage. Given a team a win like that in a game like that makes no sense unless you find just cause. If the game were more decisive in one teams favor I may be able to see, but only with just cause.
5. I understand that you have to back up your Ref crew, but not to the detriment of the league or teams. If you find that Rich should not have called the game, it should be a problem to have him acknowledge it and go over perimeters in which a game can be rightfully called. Ref crews in College football and Baseball have been suspended or pulled from future games for mistakes in judgment.
6. This is where you earn your money, making far decisions. These times only come up once and a while for you so you need to make sure you do right by all involved
