I'll take this one Zane. First answer is no, you cannot interchange body parts from an E30(84-92 3 series) to an E21(77-82 3 series). With small items like the headlights, you may be able to gradt on to the 320i but it is definately going to be a custom job. As for the engine swap, yes this can be done. If you get the entire drivetrain as a package deal and assuming it is in proper state of tune, it should not have a problem passing smog. You will have to beef up the spring rates in the front as you are adding some weight and upsetting the balance as your car is a four banger 2 liter and the 325i is a 2.5liter 6. Your other option is to get an M42 engine out of a late E30 318is. It is a twin cam 4 cylinder and will give you plenty of pep. There is also an aftermarket supercharger kit made by Downing that will boost it to 200hp. Food for thought. Either way it will cost you a little money.
