Most any M30 engine will "rev" quite well. Some of the earlier cars with the shorter strokes had a jump on things. In any event, there is so much more to just putting an engine in a car and expecting it to do this or that. In your case, any larger bore M30 block would be just fine. Then you get yourself a short stroke crank, fit the pistons and your on your way. If this is going to be a stock build, then I would stay as close to stock specs as possible. On the other hand, if you are serious as a hoot with this project, then hunt around for other alternatives, like an M3 motor or, better yet, a 750 V12 :o)
