Posted by zane I use multi channel data logging, so I do know the temps before, after and inbetween. Indeed, water pushes the temps way down, and, in some cases, can hamper the power curve. So it's important on a particular setup to have an idea as to the injection volume.

Yes, this is the case, but on cars that have computer controlled knock retard. Moreover, ignition retard is not a villian to horsepower; and, in some cases, can actually help produce the power when needed the most. If detonation is present, then there is no doubt some sort of tuning issue that needs to be addressed.
