My favorite has always been When Eight Bells Toll, followed closely by Where Eagles Dare, Guns of Navarone, Night Without End...I don't think I've read one (up to, that is, Caravan to Vaccares, after which my interest fell off) I didn't like, and there are only a few I haven't read...namely, The Secret Ways, South by Java Head, and The Golden Rendezvous. For someone who claims not to have has any art involved in his work, he was crtainly wildly successful at what he did--both in terms of financial success and satisfactionto hid deservedly large audience.
