I've just spotted this (Sept '09).I was the photographer of the picture of Alistair.Im sure it's the one with his left hand to his chin.
I knew his wife,Marcelle,from her acting days.I had a call from her one dayc.1970's when she married him,asking if I would go along to a secret London apartment to photograph him.
The problem is,the whole b/w film material was handed to Marcelle without me seeing the results.She had it processed & printed up.
Im judging by my lighting/technique,this was the results.It was shot with a Rolleiflex on 120 film stock & using flash.
Where that material is today,goodness only knows.
It's only by chance I've stumbled on the picture myself.I remember having lunch with him,sent for out of a box."Eat with your fingers" I can remember Alistair saying.Chewing on another chicken leg and not worrying about formalities.
