Hi Greg,
I have the same question about a paperback of the Secret Ways I picked for a $1. Inside it was once penciled in for $35, and on the title page in blue ink is something that could be a special flare autograph: It appears as though it starts as a scribbled Alistair (first 3 letters and the rest trailing to nothing), then this is incased in what could be an M, with the peeks of the letter tightly forming an arrow at the end of the scribble. It has puzzled me for years, but I always hope.
