The reason radio luxembourg on Astra1A chan13 stereo 7.38/7.56Mhz PANDA1 was pulled on 30th Dec 1992 was because;
(a)No one knew how many were listening via this method,
(b)Lack of or hardly any redistribution via cable systems and commercial radio stations (very few cable systems and commercial radio stations in the UK and Europe actually carried it), and finally
(c)Loss of audience via the closedown of the English Service on 1440MW.
If CLTUFA did better and better sold and marketed the station to UK and European cable system operators and commercial radio stations throughout Europe within ASTRA's reach and got them to carry it, then it would have still been going up to the present day, but no it seemed to know best and drastically decided to close it. I would have;
Better sold it to cable networks and commercial radio stations,
Got cable networks and commercial radio stations throughout UK and Europe to carry it,
Kept the same 1300kW power at Marnarch and digitized via DRM method 1440MW and distributed it that way too,
And digitized via the DRM method 49.26m(6090Khz) keeping the same 150KW transmitter power and omnidirectional antennae at the Junglinster SW transmitter for worldwide reception in high quality stereo sound by worldwide audiences.
