Posted by Anthony In my view the only way to make the station truly successful is; When we have all that in place, only then and ONLY THEN can we truly call it a SUCCESS AND that THE LEGEND IS BACK! But if the UK only DRM-SW transmission were to return and this boring classic rock format were to continue then I'm afraid it won't endear as many listeners as it could(and should do). Luxy can(and should)do better than what it is BUT RTL won't allow it's rebirth that got it's many listeners in the old days. Very bad indeed!

It is a shame! :-( The UK transmission was dogged with
(a)reception/technical difficulties,
(b)horrendous costs of running the DRM-SW transmission on constant test mode instead of going live after a moderate period of time,
(c)instability and variation in propagation/reception conditions on the higher SW bands leading to constant audio dropouts and deadair from time to time and complaints from UK listeners with DRM sets to RTL/bce/clt about the poor reception conditions.
(a)The use of the more stable lower metre SW bands for a pan european DRM-SW transmission of R.Luxembourg's english service revival which should give a more improved reception,
(b)A higher power of at least 70kW or more with a massive coverage area with the whole of the European continent from the Canary Is. right up to Russia in the NE, and from the UK right down to Greece Turkey Cyprus and various southern western and eastern holiday resorts and from the South of Italy to the extreme north and east of Scandinavia and all points N W E S inbetween so that EVERYBODY across europe gets Luxy!,
(c)looking into and considering a place on the SkyEPG via Astra 2A/2B south beam getting a lot of European and UK listeners in high quality digital MPEG2 stereo,
(d)The old rock/pop/entertainment format used for relaunch with many of the old presenters back as exists with a revival of it's old fun exciting format of lots of good music,exciting jingles,lots of great competitions(this would endear many of the previous listeners to the station as well as new fans),
(d)The DRM set manufacturers(Sangean/Morphy Richards/Roberts)pulling their fingers out and fast releasing their multiband DRM/DAB/FM/LW/MW/SW sets resulting in FLOODING THE UK AND European markets with these things making it possible for consumers to tune into this technology and make it a part of their listening habits,
(e)Radio Luxembourg working together with the set manufacturers to plug and promote and advertise the DRM sets and this better way of AM listening,
(d)having multilingual european and english language commercial breaks offering advertisers airtime at very reasonable cost rates with good value advertising packages thrown in to make it worth their while(and make money for the station) as well as getting exposure for their products all over Europe with increased sales and profits which can only benefit everyone concerned;the consumer/the retailer and the companies of them.
