I'm humbled when I find out the type of influence I've had on some of my students. Once I had a mom tell me that her 4th grade daughter always carefully picked out her prettiest outfits to wear when it was speech day. It's always nice to hear students tell me that speech is their most favorite part of school or that I'm their favorite teacher. I've had many students who are sad to leave speech when the time comes, and a number of parents who've told me that their child cried at home when they found out they were graduating! I even had one little 3rd grade girl whose mom told me that her daughter had been moping around the house for literally 2 or 3 WEEKS after she graduated from speech! Then one day, Mom said that Haleigh just said to her, "I think I'm gonna be okay now without speech!" Sometimes you just don't know what kind of impact you have. Sad for them, but wonderful for me to know that I've been able to be part of something great in their young lives! I love this job!
