I am so stressed by job on a regular basis that I am now counting down the days until the end of the year. I work in a rural district but we have a structured learning center for mainly kids with autism. I do adore the kiddos but I understand what you are saying. I can't see myself continuing to work with so little support, so little respect or even basic understanding of what I do. I completely understand now why schools are always looking for SLPs. Many overwork us and don't support us. I feel a bit jealous of the poster who said their administrators care about their position. Mine simply don't and it's sad for the kids.
I'm sorry. I'm not trying to highjack your post. It just seems that this is an extension of our work situation.
I am trying to figure out ways to get out of schools or at least get into a district that cares about speech/language kiddos. Good luck to you Holly!
