I think that's a fabulous idea, but one that most administrators will brush off. To be fair, probably not because they think it's a bad idea but because I can't think of a school district I've worked for in 10 years of contracting and 5 years in a set district that would ask to have public funds used in this way. Again, not because it isn't a good idea, but because school districts (and private schools) operate on a budget and that money goes to educating their students, not making sure their staff is supported. It sucks, and I can see the benefit in what you propose even just in terms of increased productivity/decreased turn over, but it comes down to bucks and I think they would see counseling for the staff as a "luxury" that they "can't afford".
Sorry...I know I sound cyncial, but I think that (unfortunately) teacher welfare is definitely at the bottom of the list.....if it's anywhere ON the list....
Edited to add: I don't mean to imply that my principal or even my superintendent don't value me as a person and as a worker....they do. But they are not the people who decide where the money will be spent.
