Do you provide home practice for the student? If not, this is the time to get that piece in place. Make the student responsible to practice with mom or dad, and in the process, you make the parent responsible too. I would give assignments that involve connected speech such as 10 minutes of conversation every day. You can provide topics for them to discuss, or let them come up with their own. Teach the parent how to use a visual cue as a reminder when needed. Gradually increase the number of practice sessions per day. If he's not able to do monitored conversation with you, then have him read aloud with the parent or maybe do short Q&A, or whatever kinds of activities that he's able to do with you. The important part is to help him learn that he needs to use his sounds in places other than therapy. And also, for the parent to learn that they are also responsible for helping the child carry over at this point.
