I believe that in order to qualify, the student has to score 2 standard deviations below the mean in one area or 1.5 standard deviations in 2 areas (e.g. OT and SLP). Also, how intelligible is the child? If he/she scores 2 standard deviations below and is difficult to understand in the classroom, then he/she should qualify...at least that is the way in our district in Ohio.
