along the same lines (or maybe not - ha!), what i've found is that inclusion is as its shining best when all team members are on the same page for the amazing group of children they serve. oftentimes, the team is made up of idealists, have the patience of a saint, and believe in some ridiculous world called 'utopia'. in all my 10+ years serving in the schools as an slp, i've only witnessed one such team of foolish believers. these people are a rare jewel in this profession - or any profession, really. where am i going with this... well, when i encounter the type of teacher you've mentioned, speech person, it saddens me a great deal. i think, 'you would not even give my kid a chance!' like rosie, i get the whole stress issue, but i don't get the disrespect received from other colleagues or the disrespect these stressed out teachers give to the children (or referrals for adhd - now, don't even get me started with that one!) whatever happened with integrity, dignity - plain ole respect for one another? with sped/gen ed teachers still wrestling with their bully within, inclusion, with that team of foolish believers, will continue to be a distant utopian dream for many.
