I have 6 year old male student. He cannot lateralize his tongue. Have tried for 10 months with oral motor exercises. Affects intelligiblity. Has muscles in other parts of body that are stiff too. He is very vocal. Absolutely cannot produce /sh/, /ch/, /dz/. speech comes out as speak. He is constantly on the move - cannot sit for more than 10 minutes - talks very fast. Very fast pace lifestyle - always on the move even at home. Just this week started with - when he gets very excited - some stuttering characteristics - can definitely see face tension as he fights to get word out. What to do???
