Kind of a long time to respond to this...did you get any help reducing your caseload? This is what happened in our district: Last year was extremely stressful because I was always at the state limit and my slp partner, while she had less students, got a bunch of pre-k and kdg referrals. We were both spending huge amounts of time at pre-meetings, IEP meetings, testing referrals, doing 3 yr re-evals that it seemed we were never seeing students. Add sick days (to which we are entitled) to that too. Our dir of sp. ed added up the amount of time we spent at meetings and estimated the time it took to test each student. He presented it to the board and this year, for the first time in over 30 years, I'm not traveling! I have 45 students, my partner a few less. It's still a lot of kids---these are all high maintainance students, but it's much more easy to plan, test, attend meetings, reschedule classes if possible and see students! It took a couple of years, but once our supervisor saw that our students were not being well-served, he took action. Please let me know what happened with you.
