Hi, I have a degree in communication disorders. I applied for SLPA jobs in the school district when I graduated in 2001. At the time there were no immediate openings w/ the school so I became a teacher instead. Now 8 years later I want to make the switch to SLPA and get my license. My concern is that potential employers will think I have been out of school too long and hold that against me. I think my experience as an early childhood educator will be an asset as opposed to a new grad w/ no experience at all. I taught oral language, vocabulary, sequencing, listening skills and so on. Do you think I will have a tough time convincing an employer I am worth hiring?
