There are many reasons I push-in. Generalization/carryover being the main reason.
In my case though, it may be due to severe behavior issues seen in adolescents with Autism.
Sometimes it is just safer to be in a larger area (let's face it most of our therapy rooms are closets :) ) with other adults handy when necessary. This works well when you have a teacher that is open to the idea and likes to get involved in the students communication goals. I am lucky to work with one! We do a lot of language activities together.
