I have a son who presented as autistic when he was young. We weren't sure if he could hear us..sometimes he responded and sometimes not. He didn't make eye contact. He had few words and half were signs. He was a wild child. Also, the day he turned 2 he broke out n hives. Allergy testing confirmed that he was not allergic to anything, but that he was having a reaction to the cold..and we live in Alaska!
In the panic of him failing a hearing test, hives, no increase in words for 8 months, I took him to a naturopath. The blood work was to test for food sensitivities. We found that he was highly sensitive to ..wheat, gluten, dairy, and almonds. He does take supplements (fish oil and probiotics..amongst some other things); we took alot of foods out of our house.Within weeks he was a different kid.
Carter is almost 5 now. This boy cannot have a bite of yogurt without significant behavioral problems. We don't keep any wheat in our house, and the one time I ate it after 1 1/2 years, I broke out in a rash!
He passed the hearing test 4 months later. He still needs speech..for language now, but he talks clearly and all the time.
I also want to say that my grandmother has MS..and 15 years ago she told me that fish oil helped her greatly.
