I am in California and with the devastating budget cuts, our district will not be rehiring an SLP for one of our retirees. We already lost a half time position last year. Now our director of special ed. is asking us to pick up extra students which means most of us will have caseloads of 75+
How do we deal with this? We are thinking of ways of reducing our caseloads/referrals and also coming up with exit criteria? Does anyone have exit criteria for their district that I could get a copy of? Also, I'm looking for a pre-screen questionnaire to give to teachers/parents prior to a Student Study Team meeting, to determine if a student should have speech-language testing. Many of us can no longer be part of the SST meetings due to increasing caseloads, but don't want to be inundated with unnecessary testing. Any help would be appreciated~!!!!
