I may be biased but you should encourage your district to consider hiring SLPAs (Speech Language Pathology Assistants).
I say I am biased because that is exactly what I do. I live in California and have my certificate through the State. I have gone to school and been trained and have my degree. I can do all of the therapy and a lot of the paperwork. I am in constant reach of my supervisor and other professionals through the phone and email. I can not test/assess or hold IEPs.

I am able to split my supervisor's caseload but I cost less than hiring another SLP. And in no way are the SLPs in danger of losing their jobs to SLPAs because we can't do our job unless we have a SLP supervisor.
